I’m a literary scholar with expertise in the literature and intellectual history, genre theory, and conceptual history.

Right now, my work right now is on philology’s connection with the concept of the progress of knowledge from the seventeenth century to the mid-nineteenth century. The title of this project is Recovering Philology. See Scholarship/CV.

I’m also a poet. I’m currently writing a book of lyric poems about growing up in, leaving, and returning to Northern Ireland. It touches on dialect, education, social mobility, and the representation of conflict zones and community trauma. For my other books, see the Poetry page.
